A New Chapter for Entertainment in the Shire

Sylvania, NSW, May 2021: The 1980s was a time of growth, optimism and progress, characterised by ambitious projects – such as the opening of the $35 million Southgate shopping centre in Sylvania in 1983. And, of course, Zone Bowling, one of Australia’s most loved entertainment brands, was there for it.

Back then Zone Bowling Southgate was simply known as Sylvanian Bowl. Originally established in the 1960s, the free-standing bowling centre was reconfigured and incorporated as part of the glitzy new Southgate shopping centre. It quickly became an institution in the Sutherland Shire, uniting young and old alike in celebration of the joyful spirit of an iconic era.

Fast forward 38 years, and Zone Bowling Southgate is getting a well-deserved renovation, one set to cement the entertainment venue’s reputation as the perfect destination for the local community to have fun, create memories and bond with friends and loved ones - even (and especially) in the face of a new era’s challenges.

We can’t wait to welcome the local community back to the new look Zone Bowling Southgate.”

Guests can look forward to a stunning interior refurbishment that prioritises comfort, safety and a welcoming atmosphere. There will be 24 bowling lanes as well as a curated range of fresh new arcade-style games. The addition of one of Zone Bowling’s iconic prize shops is the cherry on top, and will offer a variety of high-quality prize items for Guests to shop or indulge in as rewards for a hard day’s play.

Zone Bowling Southgate knows all about reinventing the old to reveal a better, more resilient, and – above all - more entertaining entertainment experience for all. Zone Bowling Southgate will reopen on Friday, 11 June 2021 – in time for Winter School Holiday fun!
